Hobcaw Barony: A 3-hour van tour requires little walking but includes highlights of Hobcaw's history. Once ten rice plantations, the property was bought in 1905-07 by Bernard Baruch, native South Carolinian and Wall Street financier. At this winter retreat he and other millionaires hunted ducks, deer and wild turkeys throughout the 17,500 acres. The van stops for a tour inside his 1930 mansion that played host to politicians, generals and newspapermen as well as Winston Churchill and President Franklin Roosevelt.

Tours of Hobcaw Barony: January 1 - December 31 Hobcaw Barony property, 17,500 acres of protected land, serves as a research reserve and historic site. During the colonial era, it was a king's grant and by the 19th century, Hobcaw Barony was subdivided into 11 rice plantations. At the end of rice cultivation, New Yorker Bernard M. Baruch purchased the property for use as a winter hunting retreat and entertained visitors from all over the world. The Sixteenth Annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show: October 15, 2005 11 am to 6 pm

Georgetown has been a working seaport for more than 250 years linking much of the area's history and culture to the sea. Georgetown's Wooden Boat Show is intended to give both visitors and residents an understanding and appreciation of this rich maritime heritage. From 2 – 4 p.m. two-man teams compete in building skiffs which are judged on speed of construction, quality of work, and rowing ability. This event culminates at 5 pm the teams will compete in a rowing relay race on the Sampit River.
