Although you probably don't want to think about it, you would be surprised by some of the things that could happen on your vacation. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions:

Why should I buy CSA Guest Cancellation Insurance?
CSA protects you from a wide array of unexpected events, such as unpredictable weather, and medical and family emergencies. These unfortunate events can force you to cancel or interrupt your reservation stay, causing you to forfeit any non-refundable prepayments made for your trip.

Without CSA Guest Cancellation Insurance, could I miss my trip and lose my vacation investment, too?
For the majority of travelers, the answer is yes. If you have to cancel or postpone your vacation, you probably will lose some, if not all, of the money you pre-paid. You might be able to reschedule the vacation, but will you have the money to pay for it?

Without CSA Guest Cancellation Insurance, could it cost me extra if I’m forced to come home early?
Yes, it will probably cost you extra to return home. You won’t get any money back for the unused portion of your trip, and also might have to pay additional money for last-minute arrangements such as airline ticket-exchange fees. Many times, the cost of interrupting a trip greatly exceeds the actual trip cost.

What can be covered?
All prepaid, non-refundable reservation arrangements that are booked directly through your vacation rental company, including tax and processing fees. Since the entire reservation cost may be non-refundable at some time prior to arrival, we recommend that you insure the entire reservation cost.

How much can I insure?
You can insure 100% of the total trip cost made through your vacation rental company, up to $20,000. If your trip cost exceeds $20,000, call your vacation rental company.

Is there a limit to how many days are covered?
Yes. Please refer to your Certificate of Insurance to determine the maximum amount of days covered.

When do I have to pay for it?
We recommend you pay the plan cost for the insurance at the time of deposit, but no later than with final payment. To qualify for the Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver, you must purchase the insurance at the time the initial deposit is made.

Should I be concerned about medical emergencies when I'm away from home?
Yes. CSA's Emergency Medical Transportation ensures that you are treated at the nearest adequate medical facility, even transporting you to a hospital in your hometown if deemed medically necessary. This plan includes $50,000 worth of coverage. Keep in mind that you first must contact CSA prior to making any transportation arrangements or incurring any charges. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of this benefit.

What are Emergency Assistance Services?
CSA's Emergency Assistance Services are available to provide you immediate aid with unexpected situations that can arise during a trip, such as Medical and Legal Referral, Prescription-Refill Assistance and Emergency Cash Transfer. These are non-insurance services from CSA's service provider, On Call International.

What does Travel Delay cover
If you are delayed for 12 hours or more in the course of your trip due to a covered reason (as outlined in the Certificate of Insurance under the Travel Delay heading), you will be reimbursed for reasonable additional accommodation and local traveling expenses. Be sure to save the receipts for your additional expenses.

When is coverage effective?
Trip Cancellation coverage begins the day after your payment for the plan is received. All other coverages and services begin the later of: the date and time you actually start your trip, or at 12:01 a.m. Standard time of the scheduled departure date of your trip.

What should I do if I have to cancel my trip?
Notify your vacation rental company immediately that you are cancelling your trip. Then call us at (800) 858-5462 to request a claim form.

Is the insurance refundable?
Yes. We offer a 10-Day Satisfaction Guarantee on every plan sold. You have 10 days from the time you receive the Certificate of Insurance to look the plan over. If you decide the plan does not meet your needs, send your Certificate of Insurance and a letter indicating your desire to cancel to your vacation rental company. If you haven’t already left on your trip, you’ll receive a full refund of the plan cost. After this 10-day period, the payment for this plan is non-refundable.

Coverage Limits and Definitions

Our "Hurricane Plan" (UN320) offers comprehensive coverage, and includes coverage for hurricane evacuations:

  • Trip Cancellation: Maximum Limit per Reservation is 100% of Trip Cost
    Reimburses you for certain prepaid non-refundable expenses if your trip is cancelled for a covered reason.
  • Trip Interruption: Maximum Limit per Reservation is 100% of Trip Cost
    Reimburses you for certain non-refundable expenses if your trip is interrupted for a covered reason, including unused lodging and additional transportation expenses.
  • Travel Delay: Maximum Limit per Reservation is $600 ($200 Daily Limit Applies)
    Reimburses you for certain additional transportation and accommodation expenses if your trip delayed for 12 or more hours.
  • Emergency Assistance/Medical Transportation: Max. Limit per Reservation is $50,000
    Pays costs related to getting you to adequate medical facilities and, if medically necessary, transporting you to a hospital in your hometown.

24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services

Each policy includes FREE access to CSA's 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services, including Medical and Legal Referral, Emergency Prescription Refill and Emergency Cash Transfer Assistance. These non-insurance services are from CSA’s service provider, On Call International.

Available Services
Various 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services are provided under the CSA Travel Protection packages. A description of all 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services offered is contained in this document. The 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services are only available to persons whose primary residence is in the United States or Canada. This plan is administered by CSA Insurance Services.

How to Call the 24-Hour Emergency Hotline
If you need emergency help for an available service, you can call toll-free 24 hours a day to (866) 816-2068 from within the United States, or call collect to (603) 328-1737 from anywhere else in the world. Please have ready your Plan Code, your location, a local telephone number, and details of the situation. The assistance provider will confirm your enrollment and assist you. If you cannot call collect from your location, dial direct and give the assistance coordinator your telephone number and location. The assistance coordinator will call you back promptly.

Seek local help if your emergency is immediate and life-threatening, and contact the assistance provider by calling the hotline as soon as reasonably possible.

Help services have been included in this program to provide, whenever possible, on-the-spot and immediate assistance for those unexpected problems that can arise during your trip.

There may be times when circumstances beyond the assistance provider’s control hinder their endeavors to provide help services; they will, however, make all reasonable efforts to provide services and help resolve your problem. The assistance provider’s staff will do their best to refer you to appropriate providers. However, the assistance provider and CSA cannot be held responsible for the quality or results of any services provided by these independent practitioners.

Availability of Services
The 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services become available on your Check-In Date at your final destination and end at midnight on your Check-Out Date. These services are available up to a maximum of four (4) days prior to and after your Check-In Date and Check-Out Date, while traveling directly to and from your final destination.

Medical Referral
If an emergency occurs during a trip that requires you to seek urgent medical advice, you should call the 24-Hour Hotline to obtain the names of local qualified doctors who speak your language. If additional medical services are required, the assistance provider is prepared to consult with the attending physician and provide such assistance as they believe to be in your best interest.

This plan applies ONLY to those arrangements booked directly through your vacation rental company. To purchase this plan, make payment no later than with your final trip payment. To qualify for the Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion Waiver, you must purchase with your initial trip deposit. Please refer to policy definitions.

No coverage is in force unless payment has been made for this plan.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If you’re not completely satisfied, simply return your Certificate of Insurance within ten (10) days of your application date, or receipt of this document, whichever is later, and include a letter indicating your desire to cancel. The letter and Certificate of Insurance should be sent to the vacation rental company. If you haven’t already left on your trip, they’ll give you a full refund. After this 10-day period, the payment for this plan is non-refundable.

When the company named on your reservation confirmation receives your payment for this plan, this brochure becomes your Certificate of Insurance and Description of Services.

IMPORTANT: Keep this document and carry a copy with you when you travel. If you need to cancel your trip, contact the vacation rental company immediately to cancel your reservation.
